The colors have been so brilliant this fall season. In fact as my mom and I walked by her apartment building in Salt Lake City the other day we noticed a small bunch of fallen leaves in the gutter. I am not sure we could have counted all of the different colors in the group. We were amazed that just a heap of leaves could look so pretty.
Our family shared another fun Pumpkin Day together this year. The weather was a balmy 75 degrees and felt hot on our backs as we stood and watched the kids play in the corn box.
At the pumpkin patch we jumped on and off large bails of hay and the little ones strolled down hay mazes. We all enjoyed a short hay wagon ride around the patch.
Then the hard part of the day--choosing a pumpkin. We Eppichs sometimes struggle with decisions and this time was no different. Which pumpkin should we take home and make our own? We have a rule that you have to be able to carry the pumpkin you pick.
After the choices were finally made, we packed about 15 pumpkins into the back of Garret and Karli's truck and headed home to give our prizes a good cleaning in the bathtub. We hurriedly ate lunch so that we could get to the funnest part--cleaning out the pumpkins "guts."
And . . . unfortunately Garret thought we meant he had to be the "insides" of the pumpkin.
All-in-all the day was really fun. And we enjoyed being with one another. And that is what counts the most.
